On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by members of Primate Safari’s team, who will transfer you to the Hotel and assist you at check in Overnight Stay Park inn by Radisson - BB

DAY 2 NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

Today after breakfast Today you will Check out and drive back via Kigali and drive to Butare, the cultural heart of Rwanda and home to the former Mwami Palace (King’s Palace), as well as several universities. Also visit the Butare National Museum – a fascinating ethnographic museum containing items of traditional clothing, maps, photographs and historical artefacts. After lunch at a local restaurant in Butare, continue on to Nyungwe National Park. At an altitude of 1600-2950m above sea level, this mountainous rainforest reserve is rich in flora and fauna, with over 260 species of trees and shrubs, and over 100 types of orchid and giant lobelia alone. As well as incredible biodiversity, the park also has breathtaking views. Enjoy Dinner at your Lodge. Overnight at Nyungwe Top View L-DBB

Today you will enjoy an early breakfast at your lodge before embarking on a thrilling hike in search of chimpanzee communities. The Rwandan chimpanzee population is thought to consist of approx. 400-500 individuals, confined to the Nyungwe National Park, including a small community in the Cyamudongo Forest. Prepare to hear these excitable primates before you see them, as their pant-hoots travel through the deep forest. During your hike you may also spot migratory birdlife including the Ross’ turaco, grey-cheeked hornbill, red-breasted sparrow hawk and regal sunbird. After lunch, you may depart for Canopy walk. After breakfast you will check out from your Lodge with Picnic Lunch Boxes and drive along the shores of lake Kivu to Gisenyi, a picturesque lakeside town on the border of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, often referred to as the ‘Martha’s Vineyard of Rwanda’ with its pretty shoreline and colonial-style hotels. One of the greatest freshwater lakes in Rwanda, Lake Kivu lies in the Albertine Rift – part of the Great Rift Valley – and has a secluded inland beach lined with swaying palms, enclosed by green terraced hills. Spend the rest of your day at leisure, exploring the local area. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel L-DBB

DAY 5 VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Today you will enjoy an early morning breakfast at your Hotel
Check out and drive to the Volcanoes National park. The journey north passes through the beautiful terraced hill sides that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscape and gradually climbs to the base of the Virunga Volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible. Dinner and overnight at Ingagi Park View Lodge LDBB

Today you will have the rare opportunity to observe the famous Rwandan mountain gorillas (subject to gorilla permits being available). Tracking the gorillas through the forested slopes of the Virunga is a magical experience. If you are lucky you can get to the gorillas, spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for a late lunch. Some gorilla families, however, are more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy. Return to the Lodge for Lunch followed by Leisure in the afternoon.
If time allows you may choose from a variety of activities at extra cost. Dinner and Overnight at Ingagi Park View Lodge LDBB

DAY 7 VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK - KIGALI

Today you will have another opportunity to go for a second Gorilla Trekking to observe the famous Rwandan mountain gorillas or Golden Monkey (subject to permits being available).
Return to the Lodge for Lunch thereafter depart from foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes, driving South past coffee, tea and banana plantations on a breathtaking scenic drive back to Kigali and transferred to Kigali International Airport in time to connect to your onwards departure flight.
