Today is the highlight of your safari — Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by the rangers. You will be allocated your gorilla family group before heading into the forest with your guides. Tracking the gorillas may take a few hours to a full day, hiking through dense bamboo forest and up volcanic slopes — the duration depends on where the gorillas nested the previous night. Physical fitness is recommended, though porters are available for hire to assist on the trail. Upon finding the gorillas, you will spend up to one magical hour in the presence of these gentle jungle giants, capturing photographs and videos of this once-in-a-lifetime encounter. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, enjoy a community walk to Red Rocks — a local initiative that improves community livelihood through environmental conservation, arts and culture, education, and community health.
