Chimp tracking in Kibale Forest is an exciting and memorable adventure. You start early in the morning with a knowledgeable guide and walk into the thick rainforest, looking for signs of chimpanzees. The trek can be tough through dense vegetation and rough ground, but the guide helps you find the chimps — lively and fun to watch as they eat, play, and interact up close.

Transfer back to your lodge for an early lunch, then drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. En route, visit the Kasenda craters and take a short hike to the 'Top of the World' viewpoint overlooking the region's small crater lakes, and the spectacular Lake Nyinambuga. Continue to Queen Elizabeth — one of the country's best wildlife parks, with over 600 bird species and mammals including lions, leopards, elephants, and buffalo.

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Gorilla tracking is a thrilling and unforgettable experience that commences early in the morning. With your packed lunch, depart your lodge and head to the park headquarters for a comprehensive briefing and gorilla family allocations. Due to the physical demands of the trek, good health and fitness are strongly recommended, along with sturdy hiking boots, long trousers, and long-sleeved shirts for protection against insects and dense vegetation. Hiring a porter is also recommended.

The journey into the forest traverses challenging terrain, from dense undergrowth to steep slopes, and varies from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the group's location. Upon locating the gorillas, visitors enjoy an enchanting hour observing these majestic creatures, while experienced guides ensure a safe viewing distance and share insights into gorilla behaviour and conservation. Afterwards, you trek back and return to the park headquarters, where you are awarded a certificate for the Gorilla Trek. Enjoy an evening community visit.

After lunch, embark on a relaxing and scenic boat cruise on Lake Mburo, one of Uganda's most beautiful and wildlife-rich lakes. You'll see pods of hippos wallowing in the shallows and Nile crocodiles basking along the shoreline; watch for buffalo and antelope coming to drink, and birds such as the African fish eagle, pied kingfisher, and malachite kingfisher.

Game Drive & Return to Entebbe

Breakfast at your lodge, check out, and head out for a game drive or guided nature walk. Lake Mburo is one of the few parks where a guided nature walk lets you see most of the animals as if on a game drive, and it is famously home to Uganda's largest population of zebras — alongside impala, oribi, giraffe, and abundant birdlife. Continue your journey to Entebbe (approx. 5 hrs' drive) with a stopover at the equator for lunch. Enjoy a farewell dinner, followed by a drop-off at the airport for your international flight.

Please Note

Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking are physically demanding; good health and a reasonable level of fitness are strongly recommended, along with sturdy hiking boots and long clothing. Hiring a porter at the park headquarters is advised. Gorilla and chimpanzee permits are strictly limited and subject to availability at the time of booking.
